I’m sick of people complaining that no one wants to work anymore.
Why should they?
Why should they want to work for a shitty job that treats them like shit and pays them shit?
Serious question.
Why would a human being want to waste their entire life doing work they hate just to barely scrape by?
Are we supposed to be motivated by that?
The only reason we go out there and degrade ourselves and accept this arrangement of time loss is that we would die if we didn’t. We’d starve. We’d lose our homes. Officials would come and throw us out on the street for not paying our rent.
Is this our motivation?
Is this humane?
Do we think this will best serve humanity and the progress we supposedly want?
Does this kind of exchange of our lives for mere existence really bring about the best in us all?
Does it create the kind of world you want to live in?
Where people are always in competition with each other, judge each other, betray each other, talk shit about each other, and even kill each other to feel superior or to rise above the rest?
Because that’s what this system that you are defending is encouraging in us.
Is that really how we better ourselves?
Are you also someone who’s against the tyranny of the government?
What about the tyranny of the workplace?
Which one do you actually deal with more on a day-to-day basis?
Am I being dramatic? Or have you just not had as many bad jobs as most people?
Is this not force?
Are we really going to put others down for finally taking a stand and saying “No, I will not accept that shitty job that doesn’t pay enough to house, clothe, and feed me that only benefits those at the top?”
Why should we feel guilty about that again?
Suprise, surprise: prices are always rising and wages never do.
Who are you mad at?
Who?
You can judge others all you want. You can side with a system that screws you over and condemn those who aren’t willingly joining you.
Everyone makes different choices, and every choice has different consequences.
All you can control are the choices you make and the happiness that creates in your own life.
So are you happy?
Are you?
I know that I want people to feel the freedom to follow their passions and develop their talents.
I want to live in a world where people have the time to explore new ideas and actually spend time with the people they say are their priority.
I want to create a world where people feel they can create anything. Where we come up with new ways of organizing society so that it’s more community-oriented, sustainable, regenerative, and resilient.
I want to live in a world where it’s easy to give an enthusiastic “yes!”
I want to be a part of creating a world where kids feel like they are encouraged to pursue their strengths and areas of interest. Where they are guided to develop what is their true calling. Not just what will make money as they leave a part of themselves behind.
So much is lost in that!
I want people to create art and express themselves and follow the path they are most passionate about because that is how true genius is uncovered.
Then people are able to live up to their full potential and give all of us their gifts.
That’s how we make the world a better place.
This is the work I want to do.
How can we do all this when people are wasting their time working at a place they hate all day every day with no time for themselves?
People don’t even know themselves and what they really want. All of these things take time. And that’s something that’s been taken from us by all the unwritten (and written) rules.
There is nothing wrong with taking a job for the money because, seriously, we all need the money. And I understand that it’s difficult right now for small business owners too. It’s hard for everyone.
But why put other struggling people down? You don’t know the whole story. Even if you know the person…you don’t know the whole story.
You just can’t.
That’s just one of the rules of being human.
Let’s give each other a break. We aren’t enemies.
